Situated within the Kanata Hydro Corridor, Sympoiesis is a community center for gardeners, visitors, and birds. The design provides the necessary space and amenities for local gardeners to manage, harvest and cook their crop, while also providing beneficial resources to the area's bird population. This includes a water collection system for watering, drinking and bathing; an open garden with specific plants that provide shelter, food, and nesting material; an integrated wall system that provides nesting cavities; and a transformable outdoor area that can be used as a communal market to boost local commerce and education on the benefits of designing with and for nature. The project also pushes to gradually change the landscape of the Hydro Corridor through seed dispersal and an increased ecological awareness and understanding.
