This course examines the role of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) technologies in crafting robust design methodologies. In the past, specific attention has been given to the translations between digital and physical media as a fertile ground for experimentation with formal manipulations, material properties, and machines processes. With limited access to fabrication machinery and collaborative workspaces this term, ARCH 212 will pivot to also introduce algorithmic modeling in pursuit of advanced digital models that encourage iteration through parameterization and provide design feedback through analysis.
